Sick@Brown

Everybody's sick right now. Today@Brown might as well just be called "Sick@Brown". And I know it's "just that time of year." But just what is it about Mid-February that has us all trudging around with chronic coughs and aches in our bones?

It might be hard to determine at this juncture just what is causing the general feeling of malaise that seems to be plaguing everyone. I'm not discounting the shitty weather. Right now, all I can see out of a window in the SciLi is a slate-gray sky. The weather as of late certainly is dismal. So, we could just be feeling tired from a Vitamin D deficiency.

It also appears that flu is going around. I should know. I spent the last week in bed, with friends so kindly supplying me with Vitamin Water and being afraid to go near me. Aside from flu, there are many other illnesses you might be suffering from. Wash your hands, and get more sleep.

Me, sick in bed with the one thing that sustained me: sparkling water.

Maybe it's the bitter taste Valentine's Day left in our mouths. We're forced to face a holiday which reminds one of the oppressive societal expectations and norms with regards to relationships, consumerism, and capitalism all at once. Maybe you're in a relationship and you get to be thankful for that person. But what if you fuck up? What if your present isn't as good as the one they got you, or you forget the flowers, or you accidentally say "I love you" and you really don't mean it?

Are you getting enough sleep? Probably not. And there's another reason we, collectively, are not feeling very well. Not to mention the fact that lack of sleep will exacerbate issues brought on by any of the other problems.

The sun might be out today, but February is far from over. Your hands might be dry from hand sanitizer, but keep it up and eventually, spring will come.
