Event: Bakesale for Sunrise Providence Racial Equity Fund

Time: 9am-4pm 

Location: Page-Robinson Hall lobby

Description: Stop by Page-Robinson Hall to get a delicious baked good and show your support for the December 6th Climate Strike. All proceeds will go to the Sunrise Providence Racial Equity Fund, which seeks to support BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) within Sunrise leadership.


Tuesday, November 26

Event: Stop the Bleed - Save a Life!

Time: 3-4:30pm

Location: Petteruti Lounge (2nd floor in Faunce Campus Center)

Description: Participate in Stop the Bleed, a federal initiative meant to prepare the public for life-threatening bleeding emergencies. Stop by this event, hosted by John Brown’s Department of Public Safety, to learn basic bleeding control techniques. Sign up here!

Event: Lunchtime Vinyasa Yoga

Time: 12-1pm

Location: AS220 (115 Empire Street)

Description: Looking for calm in the middle of your busy day? Head down to AS220 for a beginner Vinyasa yoga class that will teach fundamental postures. FREE for all Brown and RISD students with ID!

Event: U-Fli & GBC Thanksgiving Dinner

Time: 6-8pm

Location: 38 Charlesfield Street

Description: Join the U-Fli and GBC communities on campus to celebrate the beginning of break at Vice President Estes’ home! This event especially welcomes all students who are international, first-generation, undocumented, and/or low-income. RSVP here!


Thursday, November 28

Event: RI Community Food Bank

Location: 200 Niantic Avenue

Description: This is not exactly an event, but if you find yourself on campus on Thanksgiving, consider reaching out to the RI Community Food Bank to volunteer your time. Students may inquire about availability during school breaks by emailing Jeanne. If you choose to volunteer this Thanksgiving, please be aware that nonprofits and food security organizations are often overwhelmed by people searching to do good on this day of the year. It is important to contribute to the Providence community throughout the remainder of the year.

Event: RI Family Turkey Trot

Time: 10am

Location: Pawtucket City Hall (Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket)

Description: Take advantage of the break to run around Rhode Island literally. Run 5K on the beautiful course through historical Pawtucket and Central Falls before the post-race party at Murphy’s Law (2 George Street). This event supports the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen (participants are encouraged to make donations or bring non-perishable food items to the race) and all runners will receive a T-shirt!

*If you’re on campus this Thanksgiving, gather your friends for a classic Friendsgiving. Cook in your dorm basement or get take-out from the Ratty. Find a suitable table to set nicely and get dressed up to celebrate in style. Or, throw on your pajamas and watch a movie together for a cozy night.*

Event: Black Friday

Location: Providence Place Mall

Description: It’s Black Friday babbbbbbyyyy! If you are confident enough to brave the Providence Place Mall on such a day of chaos, be prepared to find some truly incredible deals. You could also get a pet picture with “Santa,” which is honestly just funny. If not, maybe just shop online?

Description: Celebrate Providence’s local vendors’ passion and dedication throughout the year! Learn about each trade with music, activities, demonstrations, raffles, food and drink, and more!

Event: WaterFire Holiday Art & Craft Festival

Time: 12-6pm

Location: WaterFire Arts Center (475 Valley Street)
