Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo offers an overview of her research about the politics of “community-studios,” a term she uses to describe recording studios that provide high-quality recording tools, professional sound engineering services, and audio training to artists from communities that often lack financial or social access, such as “at-risk” black and Latinx youth as well as women and non-binary artists from a variety of racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Please join us at the CSSJ for a lunch talk from Emerging Scholar Alexis Broderick Neumann entitled "Scars of the Trade: Family, Recognition, and Incest in Slavery and Freedom".

Alexis Broderick Neumann is currently the Provost's Postdoctoral Fellow for the Penn & Slavery Project at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her work with the Penn & Slavery Project, she is in the process of revising her book manuscript titled "American Incest: Kinship, Sex, and Commerce in Slavery and Reconstruction." Broderick Neumann earned her PhD from Penn's history department in December 2018.
