Jonathan Hess '20 is a sophomore who hails from "Northern Virginia." When asked for the name of the town specifically, he declined to comment, so make of that what you will. He's concentrating in Classics and Physics (leading us to believe he might have a death wish? We'll continue to update this story as it unfolds). He chose Brown because he had many varying interests and wanted to explore them. If he were a fruit, he'd be a pomegranate (no explanation offered, but none needed, I guess). His favorite Kardashian is Kanye, but he wants it noted that he's never watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians and doesn't know if Kanye actually counts as a Kardashian. That being said, he did know that Kim and Kanye had just filmed an episode of Family Feud. He appeared relatively excited about it.
Neil Sehgal '21 is a CS concentrator from Ohio. He says that if he were a fruit he would be a banana because they are going extinct and that symbolizes how soon there will be no one like him left in this world. He wanted to write for Blog because writing is an important skill that he does not get enough practice doing as a STEM major. His favorite album is Mindd of Mine because of Zayn, and if he were a wallpaper design, he would be Camouflage.
Austen Royer ’21 is a first-year hailing from the unspellable state of Connecticut. He plans on being an engineer, and his favorite machine at the gym is the treadmill because “cardio is king.” Austen joined Blog because he wanted to share his niche brand of humor. He says his humor is extremely sarcastic and has no basis in reality. His favorite album is everything and anything Chance has ever done because Chance is the GOAT. Lastly, if Austen were a fruit, he would be a kiwi. Specifically, a kiwi that you would have to eat with the skin on. Why with the skin on you ask? Austen couldn’t really explain. “Because I’m my own damn thing,” he said.
Rebecca Okin ’19 is a junior from the least represented state at Brown- New York. She studies English so please don't ask her what she plans on doing after she graduates. Rebecca joined Blog because having a meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday makes her Google Calender look like a rainbow. Her favorite music is whatever her sister's most recent playlist is on Spotify. Lastly, if Rebecca were a fruit, she would be a blood orange because she's full of surprises and can typically be found exclusively at Whole Foods.
Paige Torres '20 is a sophomore from San Diego, California. She is an English (nonfiction) and Biology concentrator, and is almost always in the basement of the SciLi. When she is not working on her mildly crunchy aesthetic, she serves as a manager for Brown Student Agencies and works as a Peer Mental Health Advocate on campus. She joined Blog because she likes to procrastinate on work by scrolling through Blog articles, so she thought it would be nice to pass on the favor. Her not-so-guilty pleasure is blasting "Praying" by Kesha while running on the treadmill and shedding a single tear. If she were a fruit, she would be a pineapple. Though she claims she doesn’t know why, it probably has something to do with the fact that she is actually allergic to pineapple (and her own bad habits).
Jane Bradley ‘21 is a first year from Philadelphia. She is undecided, but is leaning towards concentrating in Anthropology and MCM. Like any good Brunonian, she loves the Open Curriculum and enjoys the quasi-Urban setting of Brown’s campus. Need to forget your worries with a good gameshow binge? She would recommend checking out the highly dramatic and suspenseful NBC show “The Wall." As a fruit, Jane would be a strawberry. Why? Simply because it’s her favorite.
Zachary Zuckerman ’20 is joining blog as a sophomore transfer student from New York City. He’s concentrating in English Nonfiction. Zach spends most of his time on campus working on films mainly through BMP. Some of his favorite movies are: A Serious Man, Montage of Heck, Pulp Fiction, and Last Supper: Abu Dis. If Zach were a fruit he’d be a cherry because he is allergic to them and he’s a masochist.
