Fetty 101

I was walking through the music section of Target with two friends, looking for Fetty Wap's eponymous album, Fetty Wap, when, without thinking, I asked the question of the century: "Do you think they file the album under 'F' for 'Fetty' or 'W' for 'Wap'?" Regardless of how you alphabetize him, you can't deny that Paterson, NJ native Willie Maxwell II, has become a household name, quickly climbing the charts (and into our hearts) with hits like "Trap Queen," "679," and "My Way."[embed]https://twitter.com/fettywap/status/716888442429280256[/embed]Born in 1991, Fetty lost his left eye to glaucoma early in life and doctors fitted him with an ocular prosthesis, which is featured prominently on the cover art of his debut studio album. His first majorly recognized single, "Trap Queen," became a sleeper hit and an anthem of summer 2015 before hitting platinum record status.[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BD80zQ2k1wR/?taken-by=fettywap1738&hl=en[/embed]Since then, Fetty's gained nominations for Grammy's, AMA's, and People's Choice Awards. He's won the MTV Video Music Award for "Artist to Watch" and the BET Hip Hop Award for "Who Blew Up." With "Trap Queen," "679," "My Way," and "Again," Fetty became the first artist to have four singles simultaneously in the Hot Rap Songs Top 10.Fetty, who frequently performs with the Haitian flag out of his love for his grandmother's culture, has been making his way across a ton of college campuses and is ready to bring it to Brown, hopefully finally feeling 100%:[embed]https://twitter.com/fettywap/status/718253185165561856[/embed]If you aren't familiar with Fetty's music yet (but then again, how can you not be familiar with his music?), now's the time to study up:[embed]https://open.spotify.com/album/2gKQvajkEEaDtkqJ8FJ4uw[/embed](By the way, if you ever find yourself in Target looking for Fetty Wap's Fetty Wap, it's filed under "F" for "Fetty," NOT under "W" for "Wap." See you on the green.)
