Introducing your Spring Weekend 2016 lineup.Friday, April 15 Funkinevil This experimental electro-funk duo combines the genres of Detroit house and boogie synth into a new take on electronic music. Comprised of DJs Kyle Hall and Funkineven, hailing from Detroit and London, respectively, Funkinevil draws on the DJs years of experience to create a unique sound maybe heard best on their single “Ignorant.”Tink Tink, whose real name is Trinity Home, is an R&B artist and rapper from Chicago. She released her first mixtape during high school, and has since released six more. Rolling Stone ranked her most recent mixtape, Winter's Diary 2: Forever Yours, as the eighth-best R&B album of 2014. She has collaborated with Kelela and Jeremih, and is on Timbaland’s label. She has released multiple hit singles over the past year in anticipation of an upcoming album; check out Million and Treat Me Like Somebody. Tink has been compared to Lauryn Hill, queen of Spring Weekend 2014, and her music has encompassed issues including female empowerment and Black Lives Matter. Fetty WapYou know Fetty Wap! His eponymous album has the ubiquitous hits "Trap Queen," "679," and "Again." Finding inspiration in Gucci Mane, Haitian culture, and the Jersey rap scene, Willie Maxwell II, self-proclaimed Trap&B artist, has risen to fame with his signature squaw, his wavering lyrics over heavy instrumental harmonies, and his ocular prosthesis—he lost his left eye to glaucoma in childhood. From starting up on Soundcloud to reaching #1 on the Billboard charts with his self-titled album, Fetty Wap has made a dramatic and rapid climb to recognition, and now, Spring Weekend. This is low-key the greatest part of Spring Weekend so get excited for this 19-piece brass band to grace us with its absurdly fun presence. She debuted her music career in 2012 with two critically-acclaimed mixtapes, Reverie and In Case We Die. Her debut album, “Aquarius” was also universally acclaimed.  For first listeners, definitely check out her hit debut single “2 On” as well as “Pretend”, featuring A$AP Rocky.ThundercatStephen Bruner, better known as Thundercat, is known for his collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus, as well as his three solo albums. A master instrumentalist and producer, the bassist from LA makes some of the grooviest music out there, including “Them Changes.”Mac DemarcoIndie rocker and weirdo Mac Demarco is known for his laid-back vibes, described by some as “slacker rock” or self-described by Demarco as “jizz jazz.” He is known for his use of strong drum beats and basslines combined with a soft rock atmosphere and vocals reminiscent of John Lennon. Though his impossibly chill demeanor might lead many to assume he’s just your classic stoner, he’s been busy making music for years. With four critically acclaimed albums, Demarco is on top of the indie rock world.
