The Rise of Blueno Bears
For many years, Brown Bears Admirers was a large part of the campus culture around here. The concept is simple enough: find someone special, write an admiration post for them, make them feel loved. However, Brown Bears Admirers mysteriously disappeared before this year started, and was replaced by a new BBA to uphold its legacy. Although it's still not as widespread as the predecessor, Blueno Bears Admirers is actively making a name for itself on campus. If you haven't gotten hip to the Blueno Bears Facebook page yet, here’s a summary of the posts you could have expected to see in the first two months of this year:Students Having Crushes on TAs: For some reason, it seemed like every post on Blueno Bears during the first month of school was about a student wanting to get with their TA and wondering how to approach it. Why do people always want what they can't have?TAs Having Crushes on Students: Not sure if these posts were just a joke, or if there are actually senior TAs who are into freshmen in their class. These went away pretty quickly, though, and for good reason (Title IX, anyone?).Girls in the SciLi: Not sure why, but the most attractive girls at this school must be hanging around in the SciLi basement. There are way too many posts addressed “to the girl in the SciLi.” Very Vaguely Asking Someone Out to Coffee: I guess if you haven’t quite built up the confidence, anonymously asking someone out to coffee is a nice start, but at least set a time and place... or maybe just use Tinder?Orange Guava Passion: Does anyone know if that freshman singer from OGP is single!?CS15 TAs: The CS15 TAs deserve our admiration. Helping out 100 stressed-out first-years every day is no easy task, but you can’t blame us if we lose our temper sometime, just ask this person…
Struggling in School: School is super hard, but if you’re lucky enough, a hero like this guy will help get you through it
Trust me, it gets even better over the course of his 4 rules.Admirers Posts: That's what the page is actually for, right?Blueno Bears is still making baby steps towards being the official admirers page of this school, but I think it’s headed in the right direction. It shows us that anonymously posting on Facebook is the single best way to let out all those repressed feelings. And even if it won't truly be able to replace Brown Bears Admirers, some of these posts are bound to get a good laugh.
