Panelists include Myron Dewey, founder of Digital Smoke Signals; Lisa Parks, a global media scholar who teaches at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Jennifer Weston, an associate lecturer of women’s and gender studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The story follows thirteen-year-old Kayla as she endures the tidal wave of contemporary suburban adolescence as she makes her way through the last week of middle school--the end of her thus far disastrous eighth grade year before she begins high school. Eighth Grade will be the final screening of IFF 2018.
