S-Town, Girls, and Goats

Any podcast lover who isn’t listening to S-Town needs to start. Immediately. From the producers of Serial and This American Life, S-Town has become a rapid success. Ty Burr of the Boston Globe writes, “[S-Town] is by turns a murder mystery, an unexpected tragedy, a treasure hunt, the tale of a feud, a social portrait, an almost love story, a treatise on time, a civic history, a medical mystery, a darkening psychological character study, and an epiphany of place.” It follows John B. McLemore, a man who emailed producer Brian Reed about looking into a murder he alleges took place in his Alabama town. The podcast has already generated numerous op-eds, such as The Atlantic’s “Was the Art of ‘S-Town’ Worth the Pain?” Decide for yourself, and listen!s-townNicholas Kristof of The New York Times spoke with Hillary Clinton, who, as he states in the title of his op-ed, is finally “free to speak her mind." Without the constraints of campaigning and having to appeal to wide demographics, Kristof argues Clinton is finally “liberated.”The New York Times also published a piece on the issue of homelessness in college. The trope of the broke college student can sometimes overshadow the grimmer realities of students who have no home to return to, or in the case of commuting students, nowhere to live at all. In a separate article, we follow the life and story of Preston Roberson-Charles, a student at LaGuardia Community College.Whether you love it or loathe it, Lena Dunham’s Girls aired its series finale on Sunday, marking the end of one of the most controversial and thinkpiece-producing shows ever. The finale was…interesting, and The New Yorker’s Emily Nussbaum shared her thoughts on the series’ “fittingly imperfect finale.”girlsBy now, it’s common knowledge that Trump really likes going to Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach estate that he’s actually referred to as the “Southern White House.” According to The Hill, Trump visited the resort last week for the 23rd time since he’s been president. But now you can do the research yourself! Simply go to istrumpatmaralago.org and you’ll know once and for all. (The answer’s probably yes.)If you’re under 21 in a bar or club, it’s likely you feel like you have a stamp on your forehead flashing I’M UNDERAGE! But can anyone actually tell? We all know that person who’s fifteen and looks like they’re thirty and that twenty-three-year-old who looks like they're twelve. So, without carding, would bartenders—supposedly experts in spotting those under 21—be able to guess who’s underage? This video puts them to the test. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re5TqWQgWd4[/embed]Feeling down? Need a little inspiration or something to remind you of the wonders of our mortal world? Look no further than these goats doing parkour. These badass animals jump off stumps and fly down logs, and…do I even need to say it? These goats are the GOATs.[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ytjwd_d0TdA[/embed]Images via and via
