Due to a conflict-of-interest, we refuse to review PW's The Captives

Our editorial staff here at Blog prides itself on publishing engaging, informative, high-quality content. We strive to be the most professional that we can be. We work hard to be ethical and steer clear of any activity that would throw our morality and caliber into question. Oh, and we avoid conflicts-of-interest like the Plague. So, of course, we refuse to review PW's The Captives. The show, which premiered earlier this weekend and closes on Monday night, is directed by Blog's new Editor-in-Chief, Anthony DeRita. So, in recognition of that glaring conflict-of-interest, we simply CANNOT say anything about the show. We're ethically obliged to abstain from commenting on the sublime stage direction, tasteful costumes, strong contemporary adaptation, and cast—or really anything pertaining to the stunning [redacted for ethical reasons] performance.I mean, listen. If we were some scum-of-the-earth, standardless publication, we'd maybe talk about how much we loved the show. We'd get into the specifics, talking about everything that made this adaptation so special. And maybe we'd even give Anthony a nice shout-out for the great work. But that's just not us!If you want B-list journalism, you're just going to have to go somewhere else. So we're gonna stop ourselves right here. We've got nothing to say about The Captives, and even if we did, there's no way that we'd publish it on Blog's website. Because of this conflict-of-interest, we're obligated to refrain from reviewing the play. It's immoral and, quite frankly, it's just not right.
