Breakdown of the Macy's Day Parade

Each year, famous performers and celebrities, enormous balloons, extravagant floats, and most importantly, thousands of dangerously excited high school marching bands take to the streets of New York City for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year will mark the 90th anniversary of the beloved tradition, so one would think NBC has something big up their sleeve, right?! Not exactly.. But here is what to expect. The parade will start with Matt Lauer's smiling face laying out what's to come with the frost bitten hands of parade watchers desperately waving to the camera in the bottom left and right hand corners of your screen. No doubt he will mention "Trixie" the newest balloon of a dog... I just don't see anyone jumping up and down cheering for Trixie because no one knows who Trixie the Dog is. Literally no one.I wish I could say Beyoncé was going to make a debut amongst the excitement, but alas we will have to make due with Aloe Black and Tony Bennet. A combination not to be missed or underestimated. Other celebs who will be present to ring in the holiday season with you and your family are your favorite stars Diamante Electrio, Kelsa Ballerina, and Johnnyswim. Take a deep breath and try to contain your excitement. The cast of Hamilton, as well as the cast of Cats and the Rockets will be sure to wake you up with sharp annunciation and quick wide eyed movements and gestures. Side note: Most of us pretty much have no chance of seeing Hamilton on broadway anytime soon, so you might as well get your fill here.Be prepared for gal-macys-parade-17-jpgthings to take a dark turn when the Pillsbury Doughboy hovers over the crowd and you catch glimpse of your future, seeing what you might be looking like after your Thanksgiving dinner later that night. But not all is lost! In the wake of the summer Olympics, we can expect to see a lot of Team USA's athletes joining in the parade. U.S. Gold medalists Laurie Hernandez, Claressa Shields, and Michael Carter, as well as U.S. Paralympic gold medalists Mikey Brannigan and Gianfranco Iannotta will be making their way through the streets of New York better than any of us every will.Get ready to get on your feet because Grain Valley High School Marching Band and other fan favorites are rolling through, and they've been practicing all semester. Wgettyimages-134048752-santa-claus-626x482ord on the street is instrumental renditions of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and the Chainsmoker's "Closer" are on the table. Finally, Santa will make his way down town. "Why?" you may ask. "I thought this was a Thanksgiving Day Parade," you'll wonder. Unfortunately, there is no explanation, but you'll walk away from your TV around noon knowing you've been THOROUGHLY entertained. Images via, via, and via
