How to decide which green to lounge on

Perhaps one of the most notable things of Brown’s campus is the seemingly endless amount of green spaces for lounging. From the Main Green to the Quiet Green, from patches of green all the way in Perkins to the hipster grass by the Granoff, most open spaces are fair game for taking out some speakers, a frisbee, and a blanket. Actually, the amount of choices could be overwhelming. But never fear-- Blog can help you decide which green to lounge on based on a few simple questions. How much work do you want to get done?If you want to get work done, avoid the Main Green at all costs! You will end up running into everyone you know, listening to someone’s amazing (or horrible) playlist, or getting distracted by that couple that does yoga on top of one another. You also risk being permanently injured by a frisbee, and various different kinds of sportsballs.Instead, go to the Quiet Green to get work finished. There’s enough sun, space, and people to make it a way better choice than the Sci Li, but it can also get as quiet as the lower decibel areas in Friedman. It's called the Quiet Green for a reason, people. Do you want to bump into people you know?If you’re trying to see or be seen, then the Main Green is the best place for you. Sitting on the Main Green pretty much guarantees running into at least one person you know. If you don’t see anyone, know that someone probably saw you. (And maybe you’ll be the new object of desire in a Brown Bear Admirer’s Post).81dd87884a4750309114ded7df53ab28 If you want to see new people, Ruth Simmons is where it’s at. Simmons gets a lot of action, too-- even if it’s not the "mainstream" Green. Are you a first year?Make use of--and enjoy--the Pembroke and Keeney quads! They are so private and still enjoyable, and a great way to meet your year-long crush from Everett. Time’s a-tickin’, and soon you’ll join the rest of us peasants in the public greens!01.brown-university-pembroke-quad-student-housingDo you want to make artsy friends?Go to the Granoff Green. Share a Blue State coffee with an MCM concentrator. Ask them about Foucault. Make sure to wear your most hip Spring/music festival gear.Do you want to really consider your position at Brown and ~what it all means~?Sit by the tin foil statue. Seriously, what is it? And… why is it?9ca0fc83563bf84bcf26c0ef4c83019dAnd there you have it! One less choice to make as we approach finals. Enjoy your time in the sun!Images via, via, and via.
