Andrew Smyth

As commencement approaches and we seniors prepare to walk down College Street through the Van Wickle Gates, we’re all starting to reflect on our time at Brown. Blog wants to spotlight a series of Seniors in the next month; we’ll have two chains of senior interviews where members of the class of 2016 nominate each other to be featured on the site. (We ask that our interviewees pick someone they might not know too well, but want to hear from about their time at Brown!) This week, Andrew Smyth ’16 starts our second chain.

You might know me as…

Lil Ms. Drew, "Andrew J. Smyth," That Bitch.

When I’m at Brown, you can find me at...

the Rock. That or I am wine drunk at Den Den.

My Brown experience in six words.

Gertrude Stein but a little naughty.

Favorite class/ professor at Brown?

Will always be grateful to have known C.D. Wright. Brazen, agile mind. Deeply moral person. The real thing and I miss her a lot.

Things I wish I knew when I came to Brown:

Keep it tight. Beware of scammers.

My favorite Brown memory is… When I was expelled from my architecture seminar. <3

My most embarrassing Brown memory is…

There's a moment in Memoirs of a Geisha when the geisha knocks a man off his bicycle with a single glance. Because "a true geisha can stop a man with one look." That sort of happened to me, but I was the guy on the bike.

What I will miss most here next year is…

Spiraling with my people. Causing drama.

My go-to order in the Blue Room is..

If I'm that close to Den Den I go to Den Den.

In my time at Brown, I am most proud of…

What comes to mind is my thesis for Lit Arts. Come see it Friday night.

Brown’s best kept secret?

Brown Women's Soccer.

My post-graduation plans are to...

I am moving to Iowa City to begin an MFA in poetry at the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
