Tinashe
Like many of the greats (Beyoncé, Shakira, Obama, Madonna), this artist needs only one word for an introduction: Tinashe. If you haven’t heard of Tinashe (ti-gnaw-shay), once you do, she might change your life, just like she promises in her amazing new single, "Ride Of Your Life." This semester, pretty much any party on Brown’s campus has played "2 On," Tinashe’s infectious single which charted on the Billboard Hot 100, on a constant loop. But Tinashe is going to be way more than a one time dance-party hit. The R&B singer/actor/producer/songwriter/model/director/newInstagramItGirl is on the brink of stardom, and she’s been around for longer than you think.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s7TCuCpB5cFor starters, she used to be part of The Stunners, a band that opened for the Justin Bieber My World Tour. So yeah, she’s awesome. Tinashe directed the video for "Bubblegum" (below), the girl group’s slightly inappropriate but still impressive (and most popular) song. With the bank she made as a young model, actress, and member of The Stunners, she bought equipment for a recording studio in her own home. Yes, Tinashe, a black woman, records, writes, and self-produces her music. Bey should be proud. She made her own critically acclaimed mixtapes before signing to RCA.Her first album, Aquarius, has been widely regarded as a success, and includes tracks like "2 On" and "Hands On Deck," and features Future, Chris Brown, and A$AP Rocky. Tinashe’s hotly anticipated sophomore album, Joyride, still has no release date.Tinashe’s rise to fame can be largely credited to her internet presence.
