March 11:

  • April 7 Concentration Deadline! The Deans for First-Year and Sophomore Studies sent out a reminder to students currently in their fourth semester that the deadline to declare a concentration is April 7th.

March 13:

  • State of Brown Address, New Initiatives Fund and Elections. UCS President Sazzy Gourley sent out an e-mail that announced the State of Brown Address, called for students in need of funding for various initiatives to apply to receive grants from the New Initiatives Fund, and invited members of the student body to consider participating in UCS elections.

March 14:

  • Brown University to open new First-Generation College Student Center. "This summer, [activities, programs, and support resources for first-generation college students] will get a dedicated home of their own on campus, with Brown set to open a new First-Generation College Student Center in its renovated Sciences Library to support students whose parents did not complete a four-year college education."
  • New Course Search and Registration Tool (Courses@Brown) now live for 2016-17 Academic year. In a campus-wide e-mail, Courses@Brown—a new tool to replace Brown's existing Banner and courses.brown.edu resources—launched. The new interface features concentration requirements and course recommendations based on your own academic history.
  • Phase One of the Housing Lottery is now liveIn an e-mail from the Office of Residential Life, it was announced that Housing Lottery applications went live. These applications are the first step in the Housing Lottery process and require students to indicate their intent to participate in the lottery and declare the members of their groups. The application will be live until this Friday at noon. (Cue campus-wide panic.)
