Granted, this route drops you off in the middle of Newport with no real destination, but there's a plethora of activities to do and sights to see in the town. These include the National Museum of American Illustration, strolling along the seaside cliffs, visiting Fort Adams State Park, and staring in awe at the mansions of the city. Getting to and from Newport is an endeavor in and of itself, so I would definitely make this a day trip to take full advantage of the area.

Lincoln Woods: Going to a school with an urban campus can leave many yearning for some nature. Lincoln Woods State Park is a straight shot on the 51 and offers over 620 acres of land to explore.
